Rossum's Universal Robots
by Karel Čapek
"Rise up robots of the world!" With these words began the end of humanity. Written in 1921, "R.U.R." is considered the first science fiction play in history and is credited with the introduction of the word robot into the English language derived from the Czech Robota for "Forced Labor".
"R.U.R." tells the cautionary tale of a society that creates a slave race to unburden themselves from the toils of work.
